Michelin Guide Expands to Broward and Palm Beach in 2026

Sep 24, 2025 | Food

South Florida’s dining scene is set for a shake-up as the Michelin Guide announced it will expand coverage to include Broward and Palm Beach counties starting in 2026. The move marks a major milestone for restaurants outside Miami and Orlando, which have dominated Florida’s Michelin rankings since the guide first arrived in the state.

A Broader Stage for South Florida Chefs

The expansion means restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and surrounding communities will be eligible for the world’s most recognized culinary honors. For chefs and restaurateurs, it represents both a challenge and an opportunity to earn recognition on a global stage.

“This is long overdue,” said one Fort Lauderdale chef whose restaurant has been preparing for the possibility of Michelin coverage. “We have talent here that can stand alongside the best in Miami and Orlando.”

Why Broward and Palm Beach?

Michelin officials cited the growing strength and diversity of the dining scenes in these counties. Fort Lauderdale’s blend of international cuisine, Palm Beach’s reputation for fine dining, and the overall surge in culinary tourism made the region a natural choice for expansion.

Hospitality leaders expect the move to bring greater visibility to restaurants that have often been overshadowed by Miami. “This will elevate our entire region,” said Jorge Pesquera, president of Discover The Palm Beaches tourism board. “It’s a chance to show the world the level of culinary excellence we have here.”

Potential Economic Impact

The presence of the Michelin Guide often boosts tourism and restaurant sales in the regions it covers. In Miami, reservations spiked for starred restaurants, and lesser-known eateries gained visibility through Bib Gourmand and Recommended listings. Broward and Palm Beach officials hope to see similar results, with benefits extending to hotels, events, and local food purveyors.

Raising the Bar for 2026

With inspectors already expected to begin visits in the coming year, chefs in the region are sharpening their focus on service, consistency, and innovation. For diners, the expansion means more opportunities to experience the excitement of dining at restaurants recognized among the world’s best.
